Ann Briggs: “Tinubu Must Regret Taking This Job Every Time He Wakes Up at Night”
Niger Delta activist and commentator Ann-Kio Briggs expressed her discontent with the current state of Nigeria under President Bola Tinubu’s leadership. Briggs highlighted worsening issues in essential areas such as fuel prices, education, healthcare, and food affordability, noting how everyday living conditions have sharply deteriorated.
She shared her concerns about the escalating cost of living, mentioning her plans to stock up on rice in anticipation of price hikes. Briggs pointed out that even basic items like beef, chicken, and fish have either become unaffordable or compromised by pollution.
Briggs criticized the administration’s handling of governance, suggesting that the hardships faced by Nigerians may make Tinubu regret seeking the presidency, especially given the profound challenges facing the nation. She questioned the “it’s his turn” narrative surrounding Tinubu’s presidency and claimed that many Nigerians now view his administration as one of the country’s worst due to issues like poor governance, corruption, and insecurity.
She stated, “They put us in band A, and I know what I now spend on petrol daily. Everything has gotten worse—education, healthcare, everything. I’m planning to buy rice for Christmas now, as prices will keep rising. Beef and chicken are out of reach, and our fish is polluted. I believe that when President Tinubu wakes up at night, he may well regret taking this job. Many Nigerians, faced with bad governance, corruption, and insecurity, feel this is the worst administration since Nigeria’s independence.”
