Lagos State Government: to 15-Month Traffic Diversion at Mile 2 for Transport Interchange Project Starting November 11

The Lagos State Government has announced that traffic at Mile 2 will be diverted for 15 months starting November 11, 2024, to facilitate the construction of a new Transport Interchange Terminal. This diversion will affect Loop 1 on the Apapa-bound lane and Loop 4 on the Badagry-bound lane until February 16, 2026.
Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, shared this update via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, emphasizing the terminal’s aim to integrate multiple transport modes—rail, bus, water, and non-motorized options—to enhance connectivity and meet growing transportation demands.
Motorists are advised to follow alternative routes during the construction:
- Oshodi-Bound Traffic: Continue on the current flow without diversion.
- Badagry-Bound Traffic: Divert from the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway onto Akinwande Road, connecting to Coker and the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
- Lagos-Bound Traffic: Follow the existing route.
- Apapa-Bound Traffic: Reroute to Durban Road, through Amuwo Odofin Estate, back to the Apapa-Oshodi Expressway.
LASTMA officers will be stationed to ensure smooth traffic management.
The Mile 2 project is part of the Lagos State Transport Master Plan Project (LSTMPP), supported by Agence Française de Développement (AFD), aiming to create an integrated transport system. This project follows the July 2024 groundbreaking and an April 2024 resettlement plan by LAMATA to compensate over 600 affected individuals.
