“Garima: Dangote Should Reevaluate His Pricing if Marketers Aren’t Buying”
According to Channels Television, the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has expressed frustration about the challenges they face in loading petrol from the Dangote Refinery. This comes despite having ₦40 billion in payments owed to the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).
IPMAN President Abubakar Garima addressed this issue on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily program, countering Aliko Dangote’s claims that independent marketers prefer imported petrol over local supplies.Garima explained that IPMAN members do not control fuel imports and are actually eager to purchase directly from Dangote’s facility if given the opportunity.
He noted that while they have ₦40 billion held by the NNPCL, they still struggle to secure products. Many independent marketers have experienced significant delays at the refinery, sometimes waiting up to four days without being able to load.On the other hand, Dangote has stated that there are over 500 million liters of premium motor spirit (PMS) available at his facility.
He suggested that marketers are reluctant to purchase, leading Garima to propose that Dangote should reevaluate his pricing strategy. Garima emphasized that price competitiveness and timely delivery are essential factors for marketers when deciding where to buy fuel.
