“I’m Willing to Swear on the Quran That I Never Misused Public Funds” – El-Rufai
Former Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, has expressed his readiness to swear on the Holy Quran to affirm his innocence against corruption allegations made against his administration.
The Kaduna State House of Assembly recently accused El-Rufai’s government of misappropriating public funds during his eight-year tenure from 2015 to 2023.
In response, El-Rufai, speaking on a Hausa program on Freedom Radio, emphasized that his entry into politics was driven by a desire to serve the people, not for personal gain.
He stated that he would willingly take an oath alongside other former governors of Kaduna State to prove that he did not misuse public funds.
El-Rufai stressed that he has no fear of proving his innocence with the Quran, as he never took public money. He revealed that he had instructed his legal team to take action against those attempting to damage his reputation with false allegations.
He further stated, “I did not join politics to enrich myself. I was content with what I had before becoming governor. I have always sought God’s guidance in my actions, and I strive to uphold the trust placed in me by the people.”
El-Rufai reiterated that he is leaving the matter to God’s judgment and is focusing on personal activities like reading and writing, while his lawyers handle the legal aspect of the accusations.
