Joseph Akinwale Akinfenwa-Donus, popularly known as Joeboy, is a Nigerian singer and songwriter born on May 21, 1997, in Lagos State, Nigeria. He holds a degree in Human Resource Management from the University of Lagos.
Joeboy rose to fame in 2019 with the chart-topping single Baby under emPawa Africa, a platform created by Mr Eazi to support emerging African talent. He followed up with hits like Beginning, Don’t Call Me Back featuring Mayorkun, and Alcohol.
His debut album Somewhere Between Beauty & Magic (2021) showcased his Afro-pop sensibility, emotional lyrics, and smooth vocals. Joeboy is known for his romantic themes, melodic style, and consistency as a leading voice in the new generation of Nigerian pop stars.
