Olawale Olofo’ro Ashimi, professionally known as Brymo, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and composer born on May 9, 1986, in Okokomaiko, Lagos State, Nigeria. He is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most original and introspective music artists, known for blending alternative music, Afrobeat, folk, rock, and Yoruba poetry.
Brymo rose to prominence in the late 2000s after signing with Chocolate City, where he released his debut album Son of a Kapenta in 2010. The project featured popular songs like Ara and Good Morning, establishing him as a distinctive voice in Nigerian music.
Following his departure from Chocolate City, Brymo pursued an independent path, releasing a string of critically acclaimed albums that showcased artistic freedom and lyrical depth. Projects such as Tabula Rasa, Merchant, Dealers & Slaves, Klĭtôrĭs, Yellow, Oṣó, Oṣó (Deluxe), Libel, and Macabre earned him a reputation as a fearless and experimental artist.
