Godson Ominibie Epelle, popularly known as 1da Banton, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, and record producer born on June 27, 1994, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria. He hails from Opobo, Rivers State, and began his musical journey at a young age influenced by reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeat sounds.
1da Banton started gaining industry attention in the mid-2010s after signing with Adasa Cookey’s Squareball Entertainment. He gained mainstream popularity with the release of his breakout single No Wahala in 2021, which became a viral anthem across Nigeria and beyond. The remix featuring Tiwa Savage and Kizz Daniel further solidified his place as a global Afro-dancehall act.
He is also known for other hit tracks like Same Girl, Call Jehova, and Sabine, and has earned a reputation for his soulful melodies and socially aware lyrics.
