Transfer News: Man Utd Close In On Cunha, Eye Martinez; Liverpool Lead Race For Kerkez

Manchester United have taken a major step toward strengthening their attack, as transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that the club has reached a verbal agreement with Wolverhampton Wanderers to sign Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha. The transfer fee is set at £62.5 million, which matches Cunha’s release clause. The deal will be paid in installments, and the player is expected to sign a contract that runs until June 2030, with the option of an additional year. Final paperwork and medicals are scheduled for next week. This marks a crucial move in United’s attacking rebuild under their new leadership.

Meanwhile, according to the Mirror, Manchester United are also exploring the possibility of signing Aston Villa’s World Cup-winning goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. The Argentine shot-stopper, despite recently signing a deal that ties him to Villa Park until 2029, is reportedly open to a move this summer. United are not alone in their interest—Atletico Madrid and several clubs from the Saudi Pro League are also monitoring his situation. With question marks still hanging over the future of United’s current goalkeepers, Martinez could offer much-needed stability in goal.

On the other side of the transfer scene, Liverpool are making steady progress in their bid to sign Hungarian left-back Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. As per Romano, the 20-year-old is eager to join Liverpool, and personal terms are already settled. Negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly moving forward positively, making Liverpool the front-runners for Kerkez’s signature. The move is part of manager Arne Slot’s summer strategy to reinforce the squad’s defensive options.
