EPL: Guardiola Admits Regret Over Former Man City Player’s Departure
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed regret over parting ways with Jesús Navas, following the former Spain international’s announcement of retirement.
In a heartfelt message, Guardiola praised Navas for his exceptional qualities as both a player and a person. Despite their brief time together at Manchester City, where Navas played 1,814 minutes across 36 games under Guardiola, the coach acknowledged that letting him leave was a mistake.
“You don’t know how much I regret letting you go. I would have loved for you to stay longer here, but sometimes you make mistakes,” Guardiola admitted, according to Mirror.
He went on to commend Navas’ significant contributions to Sevilla, urging the club and its supporters to cherish his legacy.
“Congratulations to all Sevillistas for having had such an extraordinary player and a person who embodies Sevillismo. Keep him close for many years to come. Farewell,” Guardiola added.
