Chelsea Star Says Final Goodbye to Former Club, Shutting Door on Summer Return

A Chelsea player has officially parted ways with his former loan club, putting an end to any potential summer transfer back to Italy.
As the first phase of the summer transfer window wraps up—temporarily paused due to the upcoming Club World Cup—Chelsea’s transfer activity is heating up. While the Blues missed out on targets Mike Maignan and Jamie Gittens, they remain active in the market. Trevoh Chalobah is drawing interest from Napoli, and other moves are being explored.
Some analysts still believe Chelsea should push for AC Milan’s Maignan, citing his impressive statistics and the value he could bring between the posts.
In terms of strengthening the defence, Chelsea have reportedly identified a new top target. According to A Bola in Portugal, Benfica’s centre-back Tomás Araújo is now at the top of their list. The 22-year-old has an €80 million release clause.
Meanwhile, Chelsea midfielder Renato Veiga has confirmed his departure from Juventus, where he spent time on loan. In a heartfelt Instagram message, he wrote:
“Until the 30th of May, the last day of my contract with Juventus, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to represent this huge club! Grazie tutti.”
Veiga’s absence from Chelsea’s Club World Cup squad further fuels speculation that the club may be looking to sell or loan him out again. However, with his farewell message clearly closing the chapter on Juventus, a return to the Serie A giants is no longer in the cards—despite their prior interest in keeping him.
With both Chelsea and Juventus unlikely destinations, Veiga’s next move remains uncertain as the summer unfolds.
