Wike to Political Opponents: “Don’t Cry Rigging When You Lose, the Projects Are the Rigging”
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has spoken out ahead of the upcoming area council elections in Abuja, emphasizing that performance and results—not empty promises—will determine who wins.
Speaking during the commissioning of a public project, Wike highlighted that those aligned with his administration already have tangible achievements to show the electorate. He pointed to completed infrastructure such as roads, bus terminals, and schools as visible proof of their efforts.
“I don’t know those who want to run elections in the area councils. I don’t know what they will preach to the people,” Wike stated. “But those who are with us have the opportunity to tell people what we have done. So let people not waste their money. The result is known, by what we have shown.”
He cautioned that losing candidates should not cry foul after the election, arguing that success should be based on proven work, not excuses.
“So, not when you fail, you would say you were rigged. No, look at the rigging here now. The projects are the rigging,” Wike said.
He urged his supporters to campaign confidently, using the achievements of his administration as their main message to voters.
