Vice-President Shettima Updates President Tinubu on National Issues and His Visit to Sweden

Vice-President Kashim Shettima recently met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to provide an update on national matters during the President’s two-week leave. The meeting took place at the Presidential Villa and included a report on Shettima’s official trip to Sweden, where he represented the President in important bilateral talks.
President Tinubu, who vacationed in the United Kingdom and France for two weeks, returned to Nigeria on October 19, 2024. His spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, had previously stated that the leave served as a working retreat, allowing the President to contemplate economic reforms within his administration.
While President Tinubu was away, Vice-President Shettima visited Sweden for two days. According to Stanley Nkwocha, Shettima’s spokesperson, the Vice-President held talks with high-ranking Swedish officials, including Crown Princess Victoria and Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations between Nigeria and Sweden.Initially, President Tinubu had requested that Shettima represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Summit in Samoa.
However, due to technical issues with Shettima’s aircraft during a prior trip to New York, he had to return to Nigeria for repairs. As a result, a team of Nigerian ministers attended the summit in his stead.
Images released by the State House depicted the discussions between the President and Vice-President, highlighting their cooperative approach to managing both national and international affairs.
