Tinubu Detected Buhari’s Political Trap Early On — Galadima Claims

Veteran politician and elder statesman Buba Galadima has opened up about a tense chapter in the political history between former President Muhammadu Buhari and his successor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Speaking during an interview on AIT Live News, Galadima recounted how Buhari allegedly tried to sideline key political players and obstruct Tinubu’s rise to the presidency.

According to Galadima, the incident occurred during Buhari’s administration when a constitutional review process was initiated. Buhari reportedly formed a subcommittee for the project and appointed Tinubu as its chairman. However, Galadima said Tinubu quickly recognized that the move was not in good faith.

“Suddenly, the National Leader then, Bola Tinubu saw into what Buhari was trying to do,” Galadima stated, adding that the committee never met, issued no report, and failed to enact any constitutional amendments.

Recounting an encounter with Buhari, Galadima said, “So when Buhari saw me, he said he thought he doesn’t need to see me anywhere.” Galadima believes that the committee and constitutional reform efforts were part of Buhari’s broader strategy to sideline Tinubu politically.

“That is part of why even Buhari never wanted him to be president,” Galadima concluded.

These revelations cast a new light on the internal power struggles within the All Progressives Congress (APC), suggesting a long-standing rivalry and mistrust between two of its most prominent figures.
