Sule Lamido: Obasanjo Was Humiliated and Forced to Kneel to Beg for a Second Term
Sule Lamido, the former Governor of Jigawa State, has shared insights into the challenges faced by former President Olusegun Obasanjo while trying to secure a second term in office.During a live broadcast on Daily Trust TV, Lamido revealed that Obasanjo encountered strong opposition from both members of his own party and some former military allies.
Despite Obasanjo’s role in stabilizing Nigeria, Lamido described the humiliation he endured in his quest for re-election. He said Obasanjo was subjected to several degrading situations and even had to kneel as part of efforts to win his second term.
Lamido explained, “Here is a man who had worked tirelessly to unite and restore Nigeria, yet after all his efforts, he was denied the right to seek a second term. Obasanjo faced significant undermining and humiliation. He only secured his second term under very degrading and embarrassing circumstances. I was told they made him kneel to beg for it.”
