With the 2023 general elections done and dusted, the governors-elect are only waiting to take their rightful positions come May 29 when their inaugurations will take place across the nation.

Ahead of their swearing-in, former Kwara state governor, Saraki during an event on Sunday admonished the incoming state governors to do their best to better the country.

“As outgoing governors across the country prepare to leave their State Houses and transition back to private life, it is crucial that they recognize their role in being part of the solution for their successors, rather than adding to the problems,” Saraki tweeted.

He also advised the outgoing governors on how best they can enjoy life outside of their positions as government officials.

“Although the adjustment to everyday life can be challenging, outgoing governors must embrace this change with a positive outlook.”

Saraki emphasized this message on Sunday night at the farewell dinner for outgoing governors and the welcome dinner for incoming governors organised by the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF).

At the event, Saraki said that he was delighted to witness the unveiling of “A Common Ground,” a pictorial compendium of Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s tenure as the Chairman of the NGF.

“This visually compelling narrative serves not only as a walk down memory lane but also as a guide for incoming governors on the importance of legacy and good governance,” Saraki stated.

“As new leaders prepare to take the helm of affairs across the nation, I want to remind them that Nigeria is facing numerous economic, political, and social challenges that demand collective action.

“As you assume office, remember that you are there to serve and make meaningful contributions to your respective states.

“Rest assured that we, your older colleagues, are rooting for you and praying for your success as you navigate the challenges that come with governing.”
