Peter Obi Clarifies Stance: “I’m Not Fighting Tinubu, I’m Fighting Bad Governance”
Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 elections, has dismissed claims of any personal feud with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. In a video shared by Sahara TV, Obi clarified that his criticism of the federal government is not targeted at any individual but rather focused on systemic issues plaguing the country.
“I and the president is not fighting. I’m not fighting anybody,” Obi said during a recent public address. “My fight is against bad governance, against hunger, against poverty, and against out-of-school children and against people not having health services in this country.”
Obi’s remarks are a direct response to growing public perception that his opposition to some government policies amounts to a personal battle with Tinubu. However, he emphasized that his concern lies with the struggles of everyday Nigerians and the urgent need for improved governance.
The former Anambra State governor stressed the importance of redirecting national attention from political conflicts to the real issues affecting citizens—such as widespread poverty, inadequate healthcare, and a broken education system.
“This is not about who is in office,” Obi added. “It’s about what kind of life our people are living.”
Observers see Obi’s message as an effort to promote constructive dialogue and emphasize the need for effective leadership. With Nigeria facing mounting economic challenges, inflation, and security concerns, his words have resonated with many who are calling for meaningful change.
Peter Obi continues to advocate for policies that prioritize the well-being of Nigerians, reaffirming his role as a voice for the people rather than an opponent of any individual in power.
