PDP Crisis: I Sent a Message Because Saraki’s Committee Is Still Meeting – Anyanwu

Senator Samuel Anyanwu, the National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reaffirmed that he remains the legally recognized and active secretary of the party. He stressed that his role is not ceremonial but essential, particularly when it comes to signing official documents. “Let me tell you, nobody can sign a document outside of me,” he stated, asserting that no matter a person’s status within the PDP, his signature is mandatory for any legal or official party action.

According to Daily Trust, Anyanwu explained that some party members had attempted to bypass him, questioning his legitimacy and trying to take certain actions without involving him. However, they soon realized that without his signature, such actions could not move forward, effectively reinforcing his claims about his continued authority.

He also revealed that he had already communicated with party stakeholders about the ongoing efforts of the reconciliation committee led by Senator Bukola Saraki. “The reason I sent a message is because I am aware that Senator Bukola Saraki’s committee is still meeting, and they were scheduled to finish up,” he said, emphasizing that the committee was handling unresolved issues critical to the party’s future.

Because of this, Anyanwu believed it was inappropriate to proceed with key meetings—such as the National Executive Committee (NEC) gathering—while the Saraki-led committee was still working. He therefore advised that such meetings be postponed until the committee concluded its assignment.

Through his actions, Anyanwu aimed to uphold discipline, proper coordination, and respect for internal party processes. He made it clear that he does not support making rushed decisions or ignoring the ongoing efforts that are vital for the PDP’s unity and long-term stability.
