Obasa: “Having Ambition to Become a Governor Is Not a Sin, I Said It on the Floor of the House”
Mudashiru Obasa, the former Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has recently found himself at the center of political controversy following his impeachment amid growing tensions within state politics.
Serving multiple terms in his role as Speaker, Obasa was removed from office under accusations of misconduct; however, specific details surrounding these allegations remain unclear.
In a video shared by Channels Television shortly after his removal, Obasa addressed rumors suggesting that his impeachment stemmed from ambitions to run for governor. He asserted firmly: “Having the ambition to become a governor is not a sin. However, I said it on the floor of the House when the budget was presented that I had no thought of governorship.”
This statement appears aimed at dispelling speculation about political motivations behind his ousting.
The sudden impeachment has sent shockwaves through Lagos State’s political landscape and raised questions regarding internal dynamics within the Assembly itself. While Obasa maintains his innocence and seeks to clarify misconceptions about his intentions, critics argue that this incident may indicate deeper political maneuvering among various factions in Lagos politics.
As observers continue to analyze these developments and their implications for governance in Lagos State, further scrutiny will be directed towards how such actions influence future leadership dynamics.
