Momodu: Opposition Will Need Extraordinary Strength to Challenge Tinubu in 2027

Journalist and politician Dele Momodu has said unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027 will require exceptional political effort.
Speaking in an interview with News Central, Momodu pointed to Tinubu’s long-standing dominance in Lagos politics, noting that by 2027 he would have maintained control for 28 years.
“By 2027, Tinubu would have held Lagos for 28 years and you expect that that man would let you take power away from him free of charge?” he said.
He explained that Tinubu’s decades of political influence have provided him with extensive networks and organizational strength, both locally and nationally. According to him, successfully challenging such entrenched power would demand strategic planning, coalition-building, and strong voter mobilization.
Momodu also emphasized the importance of citizen participation, noting that public grievances and aspirations often shape political outcomes. He drew parallels with past elections where dominant figures eventually faced serious challenges once citizens mobilized for change.
