Mohammed Abdullahi Slams Akpabio’s Silence on Sexual Harassment Claims, Decries Media “Circus”

Prominent Nigerian political figure Mohammed Abdullahi has urged Senate President Godswill Akpabio to publicly address the serious allegations of sexual harassment brought against him by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan and others. In a report by The SUN, Abdullahi criticized Akpabio for what he described as an evasive approach, relying on proxies and media operatives to divert attention rather than confronting the accusations head-on.
Abdullahi specifically pointed to the recent emergence of a female academic figure in a media campaign against Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan. He expressed skepticism about her credibility, citing glaring contradictions in her statements and suggesting she was being used to undermine the allegations against Akpabio.
“One of the clearest contradictions,” Abdullahi noted, “is how someone who claims to have no ties with Akpabio could go on air and share what she says is his private phone number. That alone raises serious concerns about behind-the-scenes coordination.”
He condemned the media strategy employed by Akpabio’s supporters, describing it as a “deliberate misinformation campaign” aimed at distracting the public from the core issues. Abdullahi also questioned the integrity of those being mobilized to defend the Senate President, citing past reports that implicated the same female academic in fraudulent behavior and online smear campaigns against other political figures, such as the Governor of Imo State.
“To depend on persons with a long trail of disreputable conduct to wage media battles on one’s behalf is not only irresponsible—it is a mockery of the office of the Senate President,” he said.
Abdullahi emphasized that the stakes go far beyond personal image, touching on the values and accountability expected of public officeholders. “This is not just about Akpabio or Natasha,” he explained, “it’s about the kind of leadership Nigeria deserves. The people are watching, and history will record how those in power respond when integrity is questioned.”
He also cast doubt on the academic qualifications of the said professor, asserting that her professorship is questionable and may be part of a façade. “It is unfortunate that a matter as sensitive and serious as sexual harassment is being reduced to a media circus involving paid agents and individuals who themselves lack public trust,” Abdullahi concluded.
