Labour Party Lawmaker Fuels Defection Speculation by Wearing Tinubu’s Signature Cap
Thaddeus Atta, the Labour Party (LP) representative for Eti-Osa Federal Constituency in the 10th House of Representatives, has sparked rumors of a potential defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atta, originally from Benue State, secured his seat in the 2023 general elections under the Labour Party. However, recent photos of him wearing President Bola Tinubu’s signature cap, commonly associated with APC supporters, have led to speculation that he might be considering a switch to the ruling party.
While Atta shared the images on his X page, expressing gratitude to the people of Eti-Osa for the opportunity to serve, he did not confirm any intention to join the APC. His post read: “We can only justify the confidence of our people by keeping faith with our duties. Let me once again thank my great people of Eti Osa Federal Constituency for this privilege to serve. The task of good governance has begun.”
The sighting of Atta in the Tinubu cap follows a trend of defections by opposition lawmakers to the APC in recent months, including Chris Nkwonta, Abubakar Gumi, and Salman Idris, who all switched from other political parties to the APC.
