JUST IN: Senator Natasha Sues Akpabio for ₦1.3 Billion Over Defamation
Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has taken legal action against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, filing a ₦1.3 billion defamation lawsuit over alleged derogatory remarks made about her.
The lawsuit, filed on February 25, 2025, at the Federal Capital Territory High Court, stems from a dispute over her Senate seat reassignment following a reshuffle caused by opposition defections.
The case (CV/737/25) accuses Akpabio and his Senior Legislative Aide, Mfon Patrick, of making and publishing defamatory statements on Facebook, including claims that Natasha saw lawmaking as merely “pancaking her face and wearing transparent outfits to the chambers.”
Her lawyer, Victor Giwa, condemned the remarks as damaging to her reputation and is seeking ₦100 billion in general damages, ₦300 million in litigation costs, and a court injunction to prevent further defamatory statements.
