Cp-Pdp Urges Pdp Leadership To Expel Wike Over Open Support For Apc

The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has called on the party’s national leadership to immediately expel the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, for publicly backing the rival All Progressives Congress (APC)....CONTINUE READING>>>

During its weekly technical review meeting held in Abuja on Sunday, the group’s Protem National Coordinator, Barrister Obinna Nwachukwu, strongly criticized Wike for what he described as a blatant violation of the PDP Constitution. As reported by Vanguard, Nwachukwu stated that Wike’s open support for the APC, especially in anticipation of the 2026 FCT Council elections and the 2027 general elections, clearly undermines the PDP.

He cited Section 10(6) of the PDP Constitution (2017 as amended), which prohibits party members from aligning with opposition parties in a manner that could damage the interests of the PDP. According to him, “Chief Wike’s declaration of allegiance to the APC means he is no longer a member of the PDP.”

Nwachukwu also pointed out Wike’s repeated verbal attacks on the PDP and its leadership, which he said breach Section 58 of the party’s constitution. In response, the CP-PDP is urging the National Working Committee (NWC) to act under Sections 29(2)(b) and 59(1) to formally expel Wike from the party.

He further warned that the leadership’s continued inaction was eroding confidence among dedicated party members. “The ongoing delay in expelling Wike is now causing frustration among loyal party members. The NWC must take swift and decisive action,” Nwachukwu insisted.

The CP-PDP has also advised all professionals within the party to distance themselves politically from Wike, reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding the unity and credibility of the PDP.
