Three Female Officers Detained for Extorting Motorists in Rivers State.

The Rivers State Police Command has detained three female officers for their alleged involvement in extorting money from drivers in Port Harcourt. Inspectors Sarah Anendei, Caroline Promise, and Christiana Jatau were caught manning an unauthorized checkpoint beneath the Rumuokoro flyover.
Police Public Relations Officer Grace Iringe-Koko reported that the officers were arrested on October 29, 2024, during a coordinated monitoring operation. Two of the officers were not in uniform while on duty, violating police regulations. Money taken from motorists was also recovered from them.The arrests were made by a team from the Commissioner of Police and the CP Monitoring Unit.
The officers’ misconduct was recorded on video, providing strong evidence of their actions.The Rivers State Police Command is taking immediate steps to enforce ethical standards within the force. An investigation is underway, and suitable disciplinary measures will be implemented.
This incident underscores the Command’s dedication to fighting corruption and promoting transparency among its personnel. The public is urged to report any suspicious behavior or misconduct by police officers to the appropriate authorities.
