Sanwo-Olu Sets Minimum Wage for Lagos State Employees
Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced plans to raise the minimum wage for state workers to N85,000. This decision was disclosed during an interview on Channels TV’s “One-On-One with Babajide Sanwo-Olu.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu explained that the wage increase resulted from discussions with labor unions and is intended to enhance the welfare of workers amid ongoing economic challenges. He emphasized that the adjustment reflects the state’s financial capabilities rather than a competitive strategy against other states.
He stated, “It’s not a competition, so I’m not going to say that we’re paying more than some other people; it’s a function of affordability and a function of capacity.”
This initiative aims to support the workforce in Lagos as the state navigates economic pressures .
