Police cease Lagos hawker Rabiu Nafiu from leaping into Lagoon
Operatives of Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of Lagos Police Command on Tuesday morning prevented a 25- year- old street hawker, Rabiu Nafiu, from committing suicide by jumping into the Lagoon.
In a statement public on its social media handles, RRS said the hawker was restrained from leaping into the Lagoon around 8:00 a.m.
According to the statement, Nafiu, on sighting the RRS officers approaching him, warned them not to restrain him from jumping. But the officers managed to calm him down before getting him off the edge of the bridge.
The statement added that the hawker has been transferred to RRS HQ on the instruction of the Commander RRS, CSP Olayinka Egbeyemi.
