Lere Olayinka: Religions That Ban Christmas and Sallah Meals Should Be Banned From Using Facebook.

Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant to the former Governor of Rivers State and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, recently shared a thought-provoking message on X (formerly Twitter) emphasizing the unifying purpose of religion.

In his post, Olayinka pointed out the contradiction of rejecting food prepared by individuals of other faiths while freely using products and services created by people of different or no religious affiliations. He noted that the owner of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, Mark Zuckerberg, is a follower of Judaism, while his wife practices Buddhism.

“If your religion prevents you from eating Christmas or Sallah food, it should also stop you from using Facebook, WhatsApp, or Instagram, all of which are owned by a Judaist,” Olayinka wrote. He also reminded readers that many of the smartphones in use today are manufactured in China, a country where atheism is prevalent.

Olayinka’s statement calls for reflection on the inconsistencies in how religion influences daily choices, urging people to embrace the unifying principles of faith rather than using it as a tool for division.
