JUST IN: Former Governor Yahaya Bello Denies Allegations in EFCC’s ₦80 Billion Fraud Case
Former Kogi State Governor Yahaya Bello has pleaded not guilty to 19 charges of money laundering filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The charges involve allegations of mismanaging ₦80 billion during his tenure. Bello entered his plea during his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.
At the hearing, EFCC counsel Kemi Pinheiro (SAN) informed the court of the Prosecution’s decision to withdraw a prior request to expedite the arraignment date, noting that it was no longer relevant.
Defense counsel Joseph Daudu (SAN) did not oppose the withdrawal, and Justice Emeka Nwite granted the request.
Further details on the trial are expected soon.
