“If Ahmed Bolu Tinubu fails holds me responsible” – Asari Dokubo
Asari Dokubo, a former militant from the Niger Delta and a significant advocate of Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, has taken responsibility for the likely failure of the President.
He reacted to the withdrawal of fuel subsidies, stating that Nigerians should blame him if Tinubu fails.
Dokubo observed that past presidents, Goodluck Jonathan and Muhammadu Buhari, failed to achieve what Tinubu has accomplished within weeks of his regime, highlighting the significance of the fuel subsidy removal.
He asserted that Tinubu had taken one of the most significant actions, which will prove beneficial to the average Nigerian in the future.
In response to the removal of fuel subsidy, Asari Dokubo, a former militant from the Niger Delta and a significant supporter of Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general elections, has assumed responsibility for the potential failure of the President.
In his statement, he emphatically declared, “If Ahmed Bolu Tinubu fails, holds me responsible. I am unapologetic.”
Dokubo went on to clarify that he had known Tinubu since 1992 and was quite familiar with his principles and values.
He highlighted that he was confident in his assessment and could unequivocally stand between Tinubu and the people and make that claim.
He also compared Tinubu’s courageous move to previous Presidents like Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari, who failed to implement such a decision when they had the chance.
According to Dokubo, Tinubu’s move was arguably one of the most significant steps taken by any government in recent times, one that would potentially benefit the average Nigerian in the future.
Therefore, he stands by his word that the blame for the failure to implement the policy shift should fall on him, not on Tinubu.
