“I Saw Barrister in Heaven, He Told Me to Return” – Kollington Ayinla Recounts Near-Death Experience

Legendary Fuji musician Alhaji Kollington Ayinla has opened up about a powerful spiritual experience he had while in a coma, revealing that he saw his late friend and fellow Fuji icon, Barrister, during what he described as a heavenly vision.
In an emotional interview on Teju Babyface’s YouTube show, Kollington shared that despite being unconscious during his coma, he remained fully aware of his surroundings. It was during this state, he said, that he had a vivid encounter with Barrister, who passed away several years ago.
According to Kollington, in the vision he found himself in heaven and was surprised to see Barrister there. The late singer, however, questioned his presence and urged him to return to the land of the living.
He recalled Barrister’s words as a firm reminder of his unfinished mission on Earth. “When I was in a coma, I was fully aware of everything happening around me. In that state, I saw my friend Barrister in heaven. He asked what I was doing there and told me to return, saying I needed to take care of Fuji music—that it must not be allowed to die,” Kollington said.
The veteran musician added that he pleaded to stay, even telling Barrister he was hungry, but his late friend insisted that his time on Earth was not yet over. “I told him I was hungry, but he insisted I go back instead,” he recalled.
When he finally regained consciousness in the hospital, Kollington said the weight of the experience brought him to tears. “When I eventually woke up from the coma and realized I was in the hospital, I began to cry,” he said.
Kollington’s account has resonated deeply with fans, shedding light on the depth of his bond with Barrister and his continued commitment to preserving Fuji music.
