Gen. Musa Says Ruth Ogunleye’s Dismissal Review Won’t Change Outcome

Nigeria’s Chief of Defense Staff, General Christopher Musa has responded to the case of Private Ruth Ogunleye, who was dismissed after accusing Colonel I.B. Abdulkareem of sexual harassment.
While acknowledging the possibility of reviewing Ogunleye’s dismissal, Musa remains confident that the outcome will not change. “A review is possible, but I guarantee the findings will remain the same,” he told ARISE NEWS.
Ogunleye was officially dismissed for medical reasons following an investigation that cleared Abdulkareem of the allegations. However, Ogunleye disputes the process, claiming she never had the chance to present her case to any panel.
Musa emphasized the military’s focus on mental health, noting the efforts made to assist Ogunleye, but highlighted the challenges, saying her issues had persisted for a long time. He reaffirmed the military’s disciplinary system: “You do well, you’re rewarded; you do badly, you get punished.”
