Femi Falana Urges FG to Reinstate Tajudeen Baruwa as NURTW President
Human rights lawyer, Femi Falana (SAN), has called on the Nigerian federal government to restore Comrade Tajudeen Baruwa as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
This comes after the controversial election of Alhaji Musliu Akinsaya, known as MC Oluomo, as NURTW’s National Presidet.
The election of MC Oluomo has sparked division within the union, with several members condemning the process.
Baruwa and his executive were arrested, but the charges against them were later dropped.
Despite this, Baruwa sought legal redress, and the National Industrial Court affirmed his position as president.
Baruwa’s opponents appealed the ruling, but the Court of Appeal upheld the decision, confirming him as the legitimate president of NURTW.
Falana, in a statement, urged the Attorney-General of the Federation and the Inspector-General of Police to act swiftly to restore Baruwa to his position in line with the court judgments.
