Enugu Police Apprehend Two Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Firearms
The Enugu State Police Command has announced the arrest of two male armed robbery suspects and the recovery of five firearms, two live cartridges, a stolen tricycle, and other incriminating items.
The first suspect, Daniel Aniude, 29, was apprehended by officers from the Abakpa Division in collaboration with a neighborhood watch group. Aniude and his accomplices, who escaped, were caught attempting to rob a female victim.
An imitation pistol was recovered during the operation, and Aniude has been arraigned in court and remanded in custody following an investigation by the Anti-Robbery Section of the State CID.
In a separate incident, Uzor David, 25, from Ebonyi State, was arrested on November 12 after chartering a tricycle from Holy Ghost, Enugu, to Nara in Nkanu East LGA. Upon arrival, David used a locally-made pistol to shoot the tricyclist in the hand and attempted to flee with the tricycle.
Quick intervention by security operatives led to his arrest and the recovery of the stolen tricycle and firearm. The injured tricyclist is receiving treatment and is in stable condition.
Both suspects will face court proceedings upon the conclusion of ongoing investigations.
