Works Minister David Umahi is at the center of controversy following a heated exchange in which he ordered security to remove a woman who questioned him during a media event. The incident, captured on video by Channels TV, shows Umahi becoming visibly irritated as the woman attempted to ask a question. He initially responded with, “Madam, can you respect yourself?” and then instructed her to put down the microphone. However, the woman persisted, prompting Umahi to call on security to intervene, saying, “Security, move her out.”
As security moved to escort her out, the woman tried to make her case, holding up a certificate that she claimed confirmed her status as a patron of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign organization, with “over 10,000 people” in its membership. Despite her efforts to explain, she was eventually led out of the room.
The incident has generated significant online discussion, sparking debates about public officials’ responses to citizen inquiries and the media’s role in holding leaders accountable.
