Ademola Lookman Presents CAF Player of the Year Award to President Tinubu in Lagos

Super Eagles star Ademola Lookman, following a standout season with Italian side Atalanta, paid a courtesy visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos, where he proudly presented his CAF Player of the Year (POTY) award. The visit was reported by Soccernet.

Lookman, who played a vital role in Atalanta’s successful 2024/2025 season, delivered an impressive performance with 20 goals and 7 assists across 40 matches. His contributions helped Atalanta secure third place in Serie A and clinch the UEFA Europa League title.

The 27-year-old winger, who recently returned to Nigeria after the end of the European football season, has been active with public appearances since arriving. Earlier in the week, he spent time on Lagos Island connecting with fans and visiting extended family. He was also spotted hanging out with Afrobeats sensations Davido and Zlatan, enjoying some leisure time.

Lookman made headlines again on Friday when he visited the Lagos State Government House. During the visit, he met with both President Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. He presented his CAF POTY award to the President in what quickly became a viral moment on social media, with videos and pictures circulating widely.

The visit was perfectly timed with President Tinubu’s arrival in Lagos just two days earlier, allowing Lookman to meet both the President and the Governor in one outing.

Fans and sports officials have hailed the gesture, calling it a proud moment for Nigeria and a motivational milestone for aspiring athletes. Lookman’s recognition as Africa’s top footballer this season has elevated his status as a leading figure and role model in Nigerian football.

Born in Lagos, Lookman’s return home and his presentation of the prestigious award capped off a phenomenal year—one that has seen him rise to the top of African football while continuing to make Nigeria proud on and off the field.
