Adams Oshiomole Criticizes JAMB for Extravagant Spending (Watch Video)
During a Senate hearing broadcast on Voice TV, Senator Adams Oshiomole challenged the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Chairman over the organization’s proposed budget, particularly focusing on vehicle allocation practices.
The Senator criticized JAMB’s vehicle distribution policy, stating, “The cars are assigned to officers in clear violation of the monetization policy.” He expressed that while he would support vehicle allocation to lower-ranking staff, the current practice appeared to favor senior management.
“But if it is something that goes down to level 8, level 9, level 10, level 12, I have no problem. But usually, this is something that just hovers around the MD, the level 17, level 13—a few privileged people,” he explained.
Oshiomole also raised concerns about asset management and depreciation. “And what about what happened to the ones you procured last year, the year before, or three years before? What is the depreciation policy?” he questioned.
The Senator concluded with a stark comparison to highlight what he viewed as excessive spending: “So on the whole, when I look at your expenditure, you spend as if you are in Saudi Arabia because the resources that you are drawing is from people who can hardly pay it.”
