Wizkid Becomes African Artiste With Most BMI Songwriting Award
The Big Eagle represented the motherland at the 2022 BMI awards in London.
Nigerian ace singer, songwriter and performer, Ayo Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has added another feather to his cap, after his recent feat at the 2022 BMI awards in London.
The BMI Film & TV Awards are accolades presented annually by Broadcast Music, Inc., honoring songwriters, composers, and music publishers in various genres, and the 2022 edition was held at Savoy Hotel in London on Monday 3rd October.
Like other international heavyweight singer-songwriters such as Ed Sheeran, Elle Goulding, and a slew of others, Nigeria’s Wizkid was one of the night’s main attraction after his monster records ‘Essence,’ which features Nigerian award-winning songstress Tems, and its remix, which features Canadian pop star Justin Bieber, were named to the “Most Played Songs Of The Year” list.
This recent feat makes a total of five BMI awards won by Wizkid, which is the most by any African artist in history.
