“They Told Me I Was in a Coma for 7 Days” – Oyeleke Recounts Tragic Accident That Took His Sight

Sodeeq Ayoola Oyeleke has opened up about the devastating accident that left him blind and nearly claimed his life.
In a moving interview on Talk To B, Oyeleke recalled the day everything changed. Once a dedicated apprentice known for his hard work and charm, he had built a strong relationship with his boss during five years of training.
“I trained for five years, and my boss didn’t want me to leave because he liked me. People called me the life of my boss, and suddenly I had an accident that led to the loss of my sight,” he said.
The incident occurred on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, while he was assisting a customer with a car engine repair. According to Oyeleke, the customer asked him to get a half engine from a contact at Kola Bus Stop in Sango.
After riding to the location and collecting the engine with the help of some nearby boys, Oyeleke returned to where he had parked his motorcycle.
“I carried the engine with the help of some other boys and got to where I parked my motorcycle. I was trying to place the engine on the bike when a vehicle hit me from behind. I landed in the center of the road and broke my head,” he recounted.
The accident was so violent that many assumed he wouldn’t survive. He was immediately rushed to a hospital in Idi Araba.
“They told me I was in a coma for seven days,” he said.
Though the injury left him blind, Oyeleke’s story is one of strength and perseverance. His experience serves as a powerful reminder of how quickly life can change—and how courage can carry a person through even the darkest moments.
