Don Jazzy – I was hurt when Wande Coal left
Don Jazzy
Nigerian record producer, Michael Collins Ajereh, known professionally as Don Jazzy, has revealed that he was hurt when his former artiste, Wande Coal left his record label.
Wande Coal along with D’banj, D’Prince were signed to the Mo’Hits Record now Mavin, but in 2013, Wande opted out of the label.
Don Jazzy, in an interview with Adesope LIVE, said he was emotional at the unplanned exit.
According to him, Wande Coal is a genius artiste that he nurtured after discovering him in UNILAG.
“We went for a show and he and a couple of guys entertained us, they even danced for us. I kept looking at Wande Coal as he harmonised a few songs with his guys. We exchanged numbers and the next day, he came over to the house, the rest is history…
When asked why Wande Coal’s exit hurt, he replied “Every separation hurts whether amicably or not. Same as Tiwa Savage, I felt it. It’s like after you train your child and they leave, just like friendship.
“I even went out of character, tweeting about it. My fans are still angry with me over that and I’m sorry. In this industry, I have done something like that twice. I should have just waited twenty minutes, the anger would have passed away” he added.
