Ayra Starr Explains Inspiration Behind Emotional Song ‘Where Do We Go’

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Ayra Starr has revealed that her song Where Do We Go was inspired by a past secret relationship.

Speaking during an appearance on Way Up with Angela Yee, the “Rush” singer said the track was based on a private and emotionally difficult situationship that only she and the other person involved knew about.

“It was a secret, unhealthy situationship, no one knew except us. My friends kept telling me to end it, but I loved him and kept going back because we had a real friendship,” she said.

According to the singer, the relationship eventually made her question its future, which later influenced the theme of the song.

“It wasn’t going anywhere, so I started asking myself: where do we go from here? I wanted it private, but at the same time, I wanted him to fight for me,” she added.

Ayra Starr recently sparked speculation among fans after being linked with fellow Afrobeats singer Rema, though neither artist has publicly confirmed a relationship.
