Omole Alleges Surveillance Devices Were Found in Buhari’s Room and Office

Dr. Charles Omole, author of Muhammadu Buhari: From Soldier to Statesman – The Legacy of Muhammadu Buhari, has made fresh claims about security concerns during the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari, alleging repeated breaches of the president’s private spaces.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television, Omole said powerful forces outside formal government structures exerted significant influence over decision-making during Buhari’s tenure, often constraining the former president’s independence.

He further alleged that concerns about Buhari’s personal safety were persistent, noting that a former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Yusuf Bichi, had expressed serious worries about threats to the president.

According to Omole, these concerns were heightened by the alleged discovery of surveillance devices during routine security sweeps.

“Every time the DSS did a sweep of Buhari’s room and office, they found bugs,” Omole said, questioning who could have installed the devices and gained access to such highly restricted areas.

He claimed that the DSS was unable to determine who planted the listening devices or how the breaches occurred, raising questions about the integrity of security arrangements around the president.

Omole said the repeated discoveries pointed to deeper issues within the presidential security framework. There has been no official response from the DSS or representatives of the former president regarding the claims as of the time of this report.
