Comedian Owen Gee Reveals He Accepted Paid Job on His Wedding Day to Fund Ceremony

Nigerian comedian Owen Gee has shared how he took on a paid job scheduled for the same day as his wedding in order to raise funds for the ceremony.
Speaking on the WITHCHUDE podcast, which aired on Saturday, November 8, 2025, Owen Gee recounted how a bank contacted him a week before his wedding to host a one-hour promotional event. The bank, he said, specifically requested him to anchor a raffle because of his lively hosting style.
According to the comedian, he accepted the offer without realizing the event coincided with his wedding date. Upon discovering the clash, he called the bank to confirm the payment amount and decided to proceed with the job after realizing he needed more money to complete his wedding expenses.
He explained, “A week to the wedding, one of the banks called me. I was running a promo then, one of those one-hour raffles. They asked if I was available and I said, ‘Yes, why not?’ Only for me to remember that I was getting married that same day. When they told me how much they would pay and I saw what I needed to balance for the festivities, I said I would do it.”
