Ronke Oshodi-Oke Clarifies Origin of Her Stage Name

Veteran Yoruba actress Ronke Oshodi-Oke has shed light on how she got her popular stage name, clarifying that it has nothing to do with her physical features, as widely believed.
In a recent interview on Oyinmomo TV’s YouTube channel, Ronke addressed the long-standing assumption that her name “Oshodi-Oke” was inspired by her curvy figure and prominent chest. She explained that the name actually came from a movie and not her body shape.
“My fame has nothing to do with my body structure because I was very slim when I joined the movie industry,” she said, dismissing the idea that her looks played a role in her rise to fame.
She further revealed that the name originated from one of her early movies, which was set entirely in the Oshodi-Oke area of Lagos. “Many people believed that my large chest and curves were the reason I was given the name Oshodi-Oke. One of my films that began and ended in Oshodi-Oke is where I got the name,” she clarified.
Her explanation aims to set the record straight and highlight that her identity in Nollywood was shaped more by her work than her appearance.
