Papaya Ex Speaks on Controversial Dress Featuring Priscilla Ojo’s Husband’s Face
Nigerian social media personality and influencer, Papaya Ex, has finally addressed the buzz surrounding her outfit at Priscilla Ojo’s wedding, where she rocked a custom dress with a photo of the groom, Tanzanian singer Juma Jux, printed on her chest.
In a candid chat with content creator Egungun, Papaya Ex—real name Abike Arab Money—explained that the design choice was very deliberate and personal. She stated that placing Juma Jux’s picture on her chest wasn’t random, but where she felt it fit best.
“A lot of Nigerians are very somehow, they criticise everything,” she said. “If I had put the picture somewhere else, they would still have something to say.”
She also noted that the bride, Priscilla, daughter of Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo, was already aware of the outfit before the event and had no issues with it. “I had to tell my wife, ‘You know I love you, I wouldn’t do anything to hurt you.’ She was like, ‘Okay, yeah, it’s okay.’”
According to The Nation, Papaya Ex revealed that the dress cost her a jaw-dropping N4.5 million. Despite the online backlash and speculations about her intentions, she insisted there was no disrespect intended. “People will always talk, no matter what you do. I was just expressing myself in my own unique way,” she said.
Adding more fuel to the public’s curiosity, she mentioned that she now lives in Dubai, where she reportedly pays around N12 million monthly in rent—details that reignited conversations around her lifestyle and source of wealth.
The outfit and the interview have since sparked a wave of mixed reactions across social media, with some accusing her of clout-chasing while others commended her boldness and originality. The incident continues to stir heated discussions on fashion limits and celebrity culture in Nigeria.
