Asake’s Father, Malo, Explains Why He Was Angry with His Son

Mr. Fatai Odunsi, also known as Malo, father of Grammy-nominated artist Asake (Ahmed Ololade), has clarified the reason behind his initial frustration with his son.

In a video that surfaced online recently, Malo appealed for financial support, revealing that he had been paralyzed due to a stroke and had not seen Asake since March 2022. He also claimed his calls to the singer had gone unanswered.

However, in a recent update, Malo explained that his anger was due to the long period of no contact, emphasizing that if he had heard from Asake earlier, the issue would not have gone public. Despite the misunderstanding, he affirmed their mutual love and appreciation for each other.

He also confirmed that Asake has since sent him money and essential supplies, and is currently working on getting him a new house.

Speaking in Yoruba in a viral video, he said:

“He has done so many things for me. The reason I was angry before was because I didn’t see him at all. If I had seen him, there wouldn’t have been any problem at all. He and I like each other very much.

“He has sent me feeding money. Regarding the house he wanted to get for me, he has informed people about it and they are looking for one. I’m so grateful to him. I also thank his mother, Hajia Fatimah Dosunmu.”
