Nana Kazaure Defends Peter Obi’s Presence at IBB’s Book Launch
Nana Kazaure, Head of Media and Strategic Communications for the Obi-dient Movement, has responded to criticisms over Peter Obi’s attendance at the book launch of former Nigerian leader Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB).
Speaking in an interview with Arise Television, Kazaure questioned why Obi’s presence at the event was an issue, emphasizing that he was simply an invited guest. She explained that Obi, a businessman and politician, believes in learning from history—both good and bad—and recognizes Babangida’s era as a significant part of Nigeria’s past.
Kazaure noted that Obi has consistently attended book launches and events that encourage education and national progress, and this occasion was no different. She also defended his remarks on Babangida’s leadership, highlighting that Obi acknowledged both the strengths and flaws of that period, particularly in Nigeria’s banking sector.
Challenging critics, Kazaure asked why Obi was being singled out when several other notable Nigerians were also in attendance.
In her words, “Nobody can tie it to Peter Obi’s neck because he had a genuine opinion about an ex-president of Nigeria.” She reaffirmed that Obi remains committed to Nigeria’s progress and should not be criticized for honoring an invitation to a public event.
