Chaos at Alimosho Passport Office: Immigration and Police Clash, One Shot

A Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officer was reportedly shot during a clash between Immigration officials and officers of the Nigeria Police Force at the Alimosho Passport Office in Lagos.
The altercation allegedly began when Immigration officers sought to understand the reason behind the heavy police presence near their office, which was said to be blocking public access to the facility.
According to reports, the situation escalated after some mobile policemen were seen in a viral video harassing a young man for allegedly making an “illegal turn.” Concerned members of the public reportedly informed Immigration officers, leading to a confrontation.
The footage also showed Immigration officers allegedly assaulting a police officer accused of conducting an “illegal duty” in the area. The heated exchange ultimately led to gunfire from both sides, with one Immigration officer injured in the process. The wounded officer has been taken to the hospital for treatment.
Videos from the scene show residents calling on the military and other security agencies to restore order. Meanwhile, the intense gunfire caused panic, prompting some passport applicants to flee the office for safety.
At the time of this report, efforts were ongoing to calm the situation.
