New Edo Governor Faces Challenges Pronouncing Budget Figures During State Assembly Speech (VIDEO)
Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, experienced a brief moment of difficulty while pronouncing the figure for the state’s 2025 budget during its presentation at the Edo State House of Assembly.
Sworn into office in November after his victory in October’s off-cycle election, Governor Okpebholo presented an ambitious N605 billion budget for the upcoming fiscal year, titled “Budget of Renewed Hope for a Rising Edo.” The proposal marks a 25% increase from the 2024 budget.
Despite stuttering over the N605 billion figure, the governor continued with his address, detailing the breakdown of the budget. N223 billion (37%) was allocated for recurrent expenditures, while N381 billion (63%) was designated for capital projects.
Governor Okpebholo emphasized that the budget was the result of extensive consultations and aligned with his administration’s five-point agenda: Security, Infrastructural Development, Healthcare, Food Sufficiency, and Education.
The presentation reflects his administration’s dedication to driving Edo State’s growth and development despite the initial stumble.
