PDP Chieftain: Governor Inherits Assets Upon Election, According to Party Constitution
A prominent chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Tambari Sydney, has spoken about the constitutional provisions of the party, particularly concerning the leadership structure. His remarks, shared in a viral video posted on NEWS CENTRAL TV’s official X handle on Tuesday, have sparked discussions about governance and party dynamics in the state.
n the video, Sydney clarified that under the PDP constitution, a governor automatically becomes the leader of the party in the state upon election, assuming control over all party assets and responsibilities.
“When a governor is elected according to the PDP constitution, he immediately inherits the assets and liabilities of the party,” Sydney explained. “He is the leader of the party and takes over anything—whether structures, debts, or facilities. Siminalayi Fubara is the Executive Governor of Rivers State and takes over anything that has to do with PDP in Rivers State.”
This statement reinforces the position of Governor Siminalayi Fubara as the leader of the PDP in Rivers State, signifying his control over party affairs and assets within the region.
