Influencer VeryDarkMan Petitions Against Lawmaker Over Bolt Driver Assault

Social media influencer and blogger Martins Otse, known as VeryDarkMan, has submitted a petition against Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the Abia Federal House of Representatives.The complaint, signed by Otse’s lawyer, Deji Adeyanju, accuses Ikwechegh of serious charges, including abuse of power, assault, attempted murder, and issuing threats.

The accusations come after a viral video surfaced showing the lawmaker allegedly assaulting a Bolt driver, Mr. Stephen Abuwatseya. In a conversation with VeryDarkMan on Monday, the driver recounted that after the altercation, Ikwechegh called some police officers who forcibly took him to a station.

Once we were at the station, they didn’t allow me to make any calls, he said.Abuwatseya explained that he was taken to the office of an Investigating Police Officer (IPO), who spoke with Ikwechegh outside. Afterward, the IPO said he needed to investigate at Ikwechegh’s residence in Maitama. Abuwatseya was held for over two hours, and upon the IPO’s return, he questioned why Abuwatseya had recorded the lawmaker.

Later, Ikwechegh arrived at the station, reportedly insulting the driver. Abuwatseya finally left the station around 3:00 a.m., but his car was still held there.
